BUILDING THE WORLD'S LARGEST DIESEL HAMMERS

In May of 1997 APE began building diesel hammers in China. We teamed up with SEMW (Shanghai Engineering Machine Works). SEMW had been manufacturing diesel hammers since 1962 and specifically Delmag hammers since 1983. In May of 1997 Delmag Germany filed for Bankruptcy which put SEMW in a bad situation. They were making the diesel hammers but Delmag was directing the sales both in and outside of China. When Delmag’s staff left China it was APE that arrived to fill in the gap. This is when the revolution started. What revolution you say? In May of 1997 the largest diesel hammer was the Delmag D100. The D100 has a ten metric ton ram. The “D” stands for diesel and the “100” stands for ten metric tons. When you read “D30” the “D” stands for “diesel” and the “30” stands for 3 metric tons. The D100 was not large enough to compete with the monster hydraulic hammers being made by Menck and IHC. Nearly every big bridge job in both the USA and China was accomplished using Menck or IHC hydraulic hammers. When the San Francisco Bay bridge replacement project arrived, the hammer requirements forced American contractors to go to either Menck in Germany IHC in Holland. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. APE wanted this work so we started thinking bigger. APE started developing larger diesel hammers. We pushed for the development of the D125 and then the D138 and then the D160 and D180. Today we are building the D300. This is the world’s largest diesel hammer. The

Waterfront Marine Drives Miles & Miles of Piles

"Waterfront Marine" a Virginia based contractor has begun driving piles on one of the largest piledriving jobs the East Coast has ever seen. "AREVA" & "Northrop Gruman" have paired up to construct a 363.4 Million dollar state of the art facility to manufacture critical nuclear components for the ship building industry here in Newport News VA. This will consist of a 333,000 square foot building that will sit on aprox. 7,500 / each 14" prestressed concrete piles. These piles will vary in length from 59' to 100' When it came time to size & choose piledriving equipment Waterfront made 1 phone call ........... to APE Mid-Atlantic here in Virginia Beach VA. Waterfront Marine & the boys from APe put their heads togeather and decided the APE D-30-42 diesel impact hammer would be the tool of choice. We paired them with an APE Model 20 drill / auger for pre-drilling down through the trash on the top. APE's entire staff from their engineering to their service staff are the best in the business said Bill Hall on site project manager. They are available 24 / 7 should a problem arise. Bill is directing the job from onsite cordnating equipment, pile delivery, and scheduling personel as well as saftey. Supporting the job from the office are Ken & Randy Sutton as well as Sammy Burnham filling in for Bill Hall and doing his job as well. Waterfront currently has 3 fixed leader rigs driving long days. They cut back from 4 rigs to 3 a while ago still getting good production. We wish Waterfront Ma

JAB Energy Solutions teams with APE for the right solution!

JAB Energy Solutions go with A.P.E. in the Gulf of Mexico
When the old way of doing things becomes too difficult and expensive Johnny and Brent Boudreaux of JAB Energy Solutions started to rethink the way knocked over wells are P & A’d (plugged and abandoned) in the Gulf Of Mexico. The current procedures call for massive amounts of excavation on the sea floor of the gulf. Typically, this is done by using large jets and divers to move the mud in order to make access to the knocked over well which is usually bent below the seafloor. The safety issues along with the time and expense of this part of the process is a huge variable when working in deep water and dealing with unknown soil types. To attack this problem JAB designed and fabricated a special reusable can that is 20 ft. in diameter and 40 ft long. This “can” can be driven and used as a coffer dam greatly reducing the area needing excavation allowing for safe access to the well. JAB also built an APE specially designed oversized quad beams 22 ft. in length that weighs over 40,000 lbs, the beams bolt to the bottom of an APE Model 600 vibro ( Super Kong).
The first job for this equipment was done during the week of July 4, 2009. The job took place in 200 ft of water and the soils consisted of stiff clay. The can was driven approx 20 ft into the sea floor and the drive time for this was approximately seven minutes.
Brent Boudreaux, Managing Partner of JAB, had this to say, “APE took on this challenging never

Dozens of APE 200 Vibratory Pile Driver/Extractors Rushed to UAE

MASSIVE FAILURES OF OUR COMPETITION'S MACHINES PROMPTS APE BUILD UP IN UAE

APE Austria has begun a massive shipment of new APE Model 200 vibratory pile driver/extractors to the UAE. This is in response to recent electronic and overheating of our competition's so-called new units in hot weather conditions. APE machines are will known for their simplicity and ability to handle both the hot Saudi Arabian sun and the cold of Alaska. The secret is our unique kidney loop cooling circuit which can be reversed in cold weather.

APE units come with massive heat exchangers and a special kidney loop oil cooling system that keeps the machine running even in 125 degree temperatures. APE developed a simple electrical system to mate with the advanced Tier III CAT engines. We avoided adding fancy touch screen panels that are subject to code failures that shut the unit down and require re-programming to get started again. APE machines are simple yet advanced. Our hydraulic gauges are old school simple yet our CAT Electronics are fuel efficient.

Our power units feature a built-in spare hydraulic tank, CAT Tier III engine, Super Heavy Duty radiator and oil cooler, kidney loop oil system, all stainless steel control panels, tachometer in the remote pendant (found only on APE machines) tool box with spare jaws and hoses and tools to do all the maintenance work and a 5 year warranty.

The APE 200 has the world's greatest lifting capacity, heavy metal eccentrics, h
